Product updates for September 2025
Please note that some of these features are being enabled gradually.
Dropsuite:
Rewst Integration
Dropsuite is proud to announce that they have now integrated with Rewst. Rewst is a platform designed specifically for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to automate complex workflows across various IT tools, eliminating the need for deep coding expertise or manual agent intervention. This integration will enhance service desk automation, streamline workflows, and improve operational efficiency.
All changes are implemented within the Rewst application with no modifications to the Dropsuite portal.
Google Drive Permissions Backup and Restore
Google Drive permissions control user access to shared media tools like Google Drive and Shared Drives. Building on our previous support for Shared Drive permissions, we now also support Google Drive permissions, ensuring more consistent and comprehensive access management.
Entra Device
Dropsuite now supports Entra device backups. In Microsoft Entra ID, a device represents a physical tool, such as a computer, mobile phone, tablet, or a virtual device that has been registered, joined, or hybrid-joined with the organization's directory. This new capability helps users stay secure, maintain continuity, and work more productively.
Entra RBAC
Role-based access control (RBAC) is now live! RBAC ensures that only designated roles get access to the features you specify. Learn more
Some limits apply to this functionality based on your assigned role. Support and Finance roles do not have access to this feature.
Backup Summary Report Enhancement
The backup summary report now includes additional SharePoint workload, providing a more comprehensive view of backup monitoring.
Avanan:
MSP Configuration Templates Now Support Security Awareness Training (SAT)
Following last month’s expansion to Gmail, OneDrive, and SharePoint, Configuration Templates now also include all Security Awareness Training (SAT) configurations - simplifying setup and ongoing change management for SAT customers.
Configuration Templates are designed to help organizations scale security policy deployment across multiple tenants with ease. Already supporting a wide range of services, the recent addition of Gmail, OneDrive, and SharePoint further enhanced their value. Now, SAT joins the list, enabling automatic propagation of training configurations to every tenant assigned with a template.
With this update, SAT campaign settings - including user assignments, schedule frequency, and selected training modules - are now part of the template configuration. There’s no additional action required from MSPs or IT admins. The next time a template is pushed, if the base tenant has SAT configured, all assigned tenants will inherit those SAT settings automatically. This ensures new SAT customers are onboarded with consistent, best-practice configurations and allows policy changes to be applied at scale with minimal overhead.
Add a Custom External Sender Banner to Phishing Simulation Emails
Avanan now allows administrators to add a customizable banner to phishing simulation emails in Security Awareness Training (SAT).
This new capability helps organizations make phishing simulations more realistic by aligning them with their corporate email appearance, ensuring users cannot easily distinguish simulations from real external emails.
Administrators can now configure a banner that appears in every phishing simulation email. This makes it possible to replicate their organization’s external email banner and better assess employees’ ability to recognize phishing attempts. By mimicking the company’s usual email indicators, training results become more authentic and valuable, providing stronger insights into user behavior and awareness levels.
To enable the banner, navigate to Security Training > Policy > Global Settings and check the “Add banner to phishing simulation emails” box. You can then customize the banner’s text and color. For advanced editing options, click the “Rich Text Editor” link in the top right corner of the editor to access a full HTML editor for complete design control.
Define Permitted File Types Across All Protected Applications
Administrators can now define exactly which file types are permitted to be sent, received, or shared across all protected applications - ensuring stronger control over potentially risky content transfers.
With this new capability, Avanan allows organizations to enforce a positive security model by only allowing specific file types to pass through their environment. Any non-permitted file types are automatically classified as malicious and processed according to the configured malware workflow. All permitted file types continue to undergo full scanning for malware and phishing indicators, ensuring that even approved formats remain protected. This approach minimizes exposure to hidden threats embedded in unauthorized formats and strengthens protection against common delivery methods used in phishing and malware campaigns.
To enable this feature, navigate to Security Settings > Exceptions > Anti-Malware > Block List, create a new block list, and select the “Block all file types except” option. Then, specify the list of file types that should be allowed.
Reminder - Changes to Your Avanan Protect Package
Avanan is retiring the 'Protect' plans due to the absence of key advanced security features like zero-day protection, sandboxing, and threat extraction. Customers that remain on the Protect plans will be transitioned to the Advanced Protect plan if no action is taken prior to December 1.
