Avanan:
Granular Permission Control for MSP Portal Help Desk Users
- Administrators can grant help desk users permissions to create tenants, delete tenants and assign license to tenants
- The Avanan MSP Portal now allows configuring granular permissions for Help Desk users.
- Available permissions:
- Assign licenses
- Create tenants
- Delete tenants
- To do that, create or edit a user and under MSP Portal Settings > Permissions, check the boxes of the desired permissions.
Customizable Dashboards Powered by Generative AI
- Administrators can now create charts and customize their Analytics dashboard using Generative AI prompts.
- Administrators can generate charts, customize them and place them in their preferred place in the Analytics dashboard, using simple AI prompts.
- You can then edit the prompt, the chart title, copy/download the chart and even publish it, so that all your colleagues can enjoy it.
- Then, you can easily drag and drop charts to place them where you want in the dashboard, so it is easy to consume and fits your needs.
- To do that, open the Analytics dashboard, click the Infinity AI Copilot button, type your prompt and that’s it.
Reduced Permissions and Roles Required to Integrate with Microsoft
- The Avanan Azure application now requires lesser roles and API permission.
- Avanan now requires only the Exchange Administrator and the Privileged Authentication Administrator roles when onboarding.
- New customers connecting to Microsoft 365 already enjoy the reduced roles and permissions.
- Existing customers that have already connected the Avanan application to their Azure can:
- Go to Security Settings > SaaS Applications > Office 365 Mail > Configure, click the Re-authorize link and approve the new permissions.
- Manually reduce the roles assigned to the application from the Azure interface to Exchange Administrator and Privileged Authentication Administrator.
Anti-Malware Allow-List Based on Sender and File Type
- Administrators can now exclude senders and specific file types from malware inspection.
- Avanan now allows administrators to define malware allow-lists based on sender, sender domain and file type.
- To do this, go to Security Settings > Exceptions > Malware > Create Allow List and select Sender or File Type under Allow-List Type
Display Images in the End User Portal Email Preview
- Administrators can now allow end users to display images when previewing emails in the end user portal.
- Administrators can configure whether end users can display images of quarantined emails in their end user portal.
- To do this, go to Security Settings > User Interaction > Email Security Portal for End Users > Email Body and check the Allow users to display images box.
End users will now see the new Display images button when previewing their emails in the end user portal.
SPF Management - Now GA
- SPF Management is now open for all customers licensed for DMARC Management.
- Customers that are licensed for DMARC management are now able to implement the SPF change recommendations Avanan provides, without leaving their portal and with no risk of violating the SPF record limitations.
- This enhancement simplifies SPF record maintenance, improving email authentication and security for their organization, their customers and partners.

Unifying Under Breach Secure Now
- On January 1, 2025, Breach Secure Now will begin a seamless two-phase transition to unify PII Protect & PHI Protect under the trusted Breach Secure Now (BSN) brand.
- Phase 1 (Jan 1, 2025): Transition to "PII/PHI Protect powered by Breach Secure Now." Updated platform logo, no changes to the Teams app.
- Phase 2 (Apr 1, 2025): Full transition to "Breach Secure Now." Updated branding across all platforms, including Teams.
2025 Cybersecurity Training, 2025 Manager Training Courses and 2025 Annual HIPAA Privacy & Security Training
- The 2025 annual cybersecurity training, HIPAA training and Cybersecurity Manager Training Courses will be available January 1, 2025
- Supplemental PDFs are available for download for specific courses, ensuring employees get the information they need in a format that best suits their learning style.
- A training certificate is awarded to employees who achieve a score of 80% or higher on a 20-question quiz at the end of their training.

Modular Backup for Google Drive
- Building on the success of Modular Backup for OneDrive launched last month, the expanding granular control for Google Drive backups. This feature allows users to include or exclude Google Drive from backups at both the individual account level and during AutoDiscover processes, making it easier to manage specific Google Drive workloads and tailor to unique backup requirements
Integration Improvements
- Integrating PSAs with our portal requires accurate credentials and ticket mapping to ensure seamless operations. Credentials establish system connections, while ticket mapping ensures correct data alignment.
- A new field has been introduced during the ticket mapping process for Autotask, ConnectWise, and HaloPSA integrations called “Sync Seat” . This enhancement enables greater customization and improves data synchronization. Please map this field correctly for uninterrupted operations
Partner Portal Search Improvement
- Efficient search functionality is essential for quickly locating data, especially in large volumes
- To enhance the user experience, we’ve improved the SlimSelect search component with a slight delay to ensure smoother data list displays.
- This update addresses issues with the previous version's speed and is applied to the organization mapping section on the Integration page.
New Email Notification Configuration
- A new email notification configuration has been added to the User Management page in the Partner Portal
- This feature provides partners with a summary of added backups and seat changes across organizations. Partners can configure email notifications to be sent daily, weekly, or monthly.
Bug Fixes
- View Email List: Resolved slow response when loading the email list page.
- Export CSV: Fixed export failures in the Partner Portal.
- Account Details: Corrected task number display issues on the account details page.
- Retention Policy: Addressed 504 errors for high email volumes (~5,000).
- New Organization Creation: Fixed unavailable plan selection during organization creation.
- SharePoint Restore: Improved long-running SharePoint restores.
- Email Restore: Improved folder structure consistency for point-in-time and all-time restores
- SMTP Settings: Fixed errors when setting up custom SMTP configurations.
- Audit Log: Resolved incomplete download results for audit logs.
- SharePoint View List: Fixed 504 errors when displaying the SharePoint view list.
- Calendar Restore: Corrected issues with scheduling restores for future dates.
- SharePoint Download: Fixed missing pop-up when downloading SharePoint sites due to expensive queries.
Guardz
Improved Detection of Email Authentication Protocols
- Guardz have improved their email security capabilities to provide better protection, visibility, and insights for both end users and MSPs
- What’s New:
- User-Visible Banner: When email authentication detection is enabled, end users will now see a banner alerting them to potential authentication issues.
- Improved Alert Management: Relevant detections are now categorized under the Alert issue type.
- MSP Visibility: MSPs now have full visibility into these email detections, enabling them to monitor and address authentication issues more effectively.
Support for Google Organizational Units
- Guardz have improved their support for managing Organizational Units (OUs) alongside Groups within the platform.
- Customers can now view and manage OUs directly within the Groups filter and column for streamlined organization and control.
- OUs will be displayed with the prefix (OU) in the Groups filter, ensuring clear differentiation from standard groups.
- Enhanced filtering options now allow you to filter by both Groups and OUs in Detections & Response, enabling more efficient management and oversight.
Other Improvements
- A 'Detection Date' has now been added to Dark Web Activity in Prospecting Reports:
- This enhancement provides a more comprehensive view of dark web activity, offering additional context for better tracking and analysis.
- Email Headers: Viewing Headers and Improved Analysis
- This update simplifies the process of email analysis, making it easier to examine headers for security threats while giving admins access to the raw code when a deep forensic examination is needed.
- The following new options have been added:
- Email Source Code: You can now access the full source code of emails, including header and body, to better understand email security risks.
- Copy Button: A new copy button simplifies the process of pasting the source code into external tools for further analysis. By copying the entire section, the analyzers will automatically parse the headers, eliminating the need for manual selection.
- This update simplifies the process of email analysis, making it easier to examine headers for security threats while giving admins access to the raw code when a deep forensic examination is needed.
- Customers’ Trial Expires Notifications
- Two email notifications for MSP admins have been introduced as reminders of your Trial expiry status:
- Notification 1 = Trial is ending tomorrow
- Notification 2 = Trial has expired
