Description
Product Updates for November
Please note that some of these features are being enabled gradually.
Updates:
Avanan:
Granular Control of End User Authentication in Browser Pages
- Administrators can control the way end users authenticate to submit requests.
- To provide organizations more control over their end users’ authentication settings, administrators can now control:
- Whether or not users need to authenticate when clicking on links from email notifications (such as restoring an email from quarantine)
- How often they need to authenticate from the same device (cookie expiration period)
- To do that, go to Security Settings > User Interactions > Quarantine > Authentication and select your preferred settings under Email Notifications.
Automatically Block Emails Containing QR Codes
- Administrators can now configure Avanan to treat every email with a QR code as Phishing.
- Avanan already inspects URLs behind QR codes and even re-writes them if it decides to deliver the email to the end user.
- We now introduce a new option for more conservative organizations – completely blocking emails that contain QR codes.
- With this new option, administrators can decide to treat all emails with QR codes in their body as Phishing or the Suspected Phishing emails.
- To do that, go to Security Settings > Security Engines > Anti Phishing > Configure > Emails containing QR codes and select between the default option (inspect URL behind QR code) and the Phishing/Suspected Phishing workflows.
Enhanced Authentication Settings for the End User Portal
- Administrators can now disable authentication to the End User Portal with a one-time password.
- The End User Portal is widely used by end users to browse through their quarantined items and take actions on them.
- To authenticate to the End User Portal, end users can either enter their email address and receive a one-time passcode, or, alternatively, login via Microsoft / Google.
- Logging in via Microsoft / Google allows administrators to apply additional security measures, such as conditional access and Multi-Factor Authentication.
- To do that, browse to Security Settings > User Interactions > Quarantine > Authentication and uncheck the One-time password via email option.
Customize Email Notifications Time Zone
- Administrators can select the time zone that will be used in email notifications.
- Until today, the UTC time zone was used in all email notifications.
- To make notifications clearer to end users, administrators can select the time zone that will be used for email notifications instead of UTC.
- To do that, go to System Settings > Customization > General, check the Customize Time Zone box and select the desired time zone.
SPF Management – COMING SOON
- There is an upcoming launch of SPF Management that allows you to implement the SPF change recommendations Avanan provides, without leaving your portal and with no risk of violating the SPF record limitations.
- This enhancement simplifies SPF record maintenance, improving email authentication and security for your organization, your customers and partners.
- It is still in Beta testing, but will be available soon
- If you wish to be part of the Beta phase or more details, send an email to [email protected].

- Some subjects have been updated to match the new format.
Updated Unsubscribe Functionality
- The unsubscribe functionality has been updated to provide a simplified approach.
- For Micro Training (MT) and Newsletter (NL) emails, the unsubscribe option will now appear in the footer of the email. Previously, a second footer was created by our email service provider specifically for the unsubscribe functionality.
- The unsubscribe option will be removed from MT/NL emails when positive opt in is enabled.
Added Text for Automated Report Emails to Notify Users About Link Expirations
- To improve transparency and provide clearer guidance to users, we have added text below links to notify users that links expire in 7 days.
- When clicking on an expired link, users will see error text explaining the link is expired. The text will give users a way to login to the portal to access the report.
