Description

Some devices and mail clients use Activesync to connect to MPexchange, usually mobile devices.

Requirements

  • An Activesync capable device
  • An MPexchange Mailbox.
    IMPORTANT :
If you do not have autodiscover correctly set up, you will need your particular settings (Username, Exchange domain, Server address).
The correct account information can be found by administrators in CONTROL PANEL under
Services > Mailboxes > Mobile > ActiveSync or by users in My Services > ActiveSync.

The Process

iOS device:

  1. For iOS 14: Go To Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account
For iOS 12/13: Go To Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Add Account
For iOS 11: Go To Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Add Account
For iOS 10: Go to Settings > Mail > Account > Add Account
  2. On the Add Account screen, tap Microsoft Exchange.
  3. Enter the full email address in the Email field and your mailbox password in the Password field, then tap Next.
  4. The device will try to configure the Exchange server address automatically.
If the server address can’t be determined, you will be asked to enter it.
    • Server name: your Exchange Proxy server name.
    • Domain: if your iPhone is on iOS 12 or higher, type in your Exchange domain as it's displayed on the ActiveSync page. If it's on iOS 11 or lower, leave it blank.
    • Username: type in the Activesync username as per the control panel user page.
  5. The device offers to immediately sync with the Exchange server. If you choose not to sync at this time, you can turn on calendar and contact syncing later in Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Account, tap on your account.
  6. By default, Exchange ActiveSync pushes new data to your device as it arrives on the server. If you prefer to fetch new data on a schedule or to only pull new data manually, go to Settings > Fetch New Data to change the settings.
  7. To change how many days worth of data is synced to your device, go to Settings > Mail > Account, select your account. The default setting is three days.
  8. To complete the setup process, tap Save and wait for the iPhone to test your incoming and outgoing mail settings and connect to your mailbox.

Please note that not all Exchange features are supported (for example, folder management, shared folders/calendars, public folders).

Android Device:

Most Android devices have default Gmail app installed.

To connect default Gmail app, use the following settings:

  1. Select Exchange > click Exchange and Office 365

  2. Type in your primary email address and your password.
Note: If you have an Autodiscover record compatible with Exchange server set up, tap Next, and your email account settings will be filled in automatically. If the settings are populated incorrectly or you do not have that record, tap Manual setup.
  3. Type in the settings.
    • Username: type in your Activesync username as per the control panel user page.
It will be of the format <domain>\<user name>
    • Password: mailbox password.
    • Client certificate: None
    • Server Name: Type in the Exchange Proxy Server. You can find the server address in CONTROL PANEL > Services > Mailboxes > Mobile > ActiveSync
    • Port: 443
    • Use Secure connection: SSL/TLS
  4. Click Next.
    Accept the security prompt.
  5. Change synchronization scope (YOUR COMPANY does not recommend to synchronize all the data for big mailboxes).
  6. Set the account as default one if you want it to be your reply from the account.

  7. Provide the description for the account (optional).
    • Finish the setup by tapping on Next button.

On some Android devices there are only two fields for setting up an Exchange account: Email address and Password. Use the following settings to set up the account:

  • Email address: User_Name@ServerAddress (correct settings can be found in CONTROL PANEL or My Services under Services > Home > ActiveSync)
  • Password: your mailbox password
  • Tap Add Account

Enter the Server address in the new field that will appear and change the Email address field to your primary email address. Tap Next to finish the setup.
