To install the Microsoft Outlook Add-in for Backup365 into OWA or Outlook Desktop

The Process


The whole process hinges around pulling a manifest(xml) file into Outlook, allowing the app to be downloaded directly to Outlook from our server. Here is the manifest URL   -      https://portal.backup365.io/outlook/manifest.xml


For Outlook Desktop:


  1. Click "Get Add Ins" in outlook
  2. Click MY add ins
    **For users of the New Outlook for Mac, select ... from the menu bar and “Get Add-ins”

  3. Scroll down to "Custom Add-ins" and click "Add a custom addin"
  4. Click "Add from URL" then paste the manifest url into the field that pops up   ---  https://portal.backup365.io/outlook/manifest.xml 
  5. You'll get a warning about installing 3rd party addons. Click "Install"
  6. The addin will appear on the ribbon menu


For OWA:


  1. Go to https://outlook.office.com/ and login
  2. Click "New Message" 
  3. Click the Overflow menu button(3 dots) in the new message window and go to "Get add-ins"
  4. Scroll down to "Custom Add-ins" and click "Add a custom addin"
  5. Click "Add from URL" then paste the manifest url into the field that pops up   ---  https://portal.backup365.io/outlook/manifest.xml 
  6. You'll get a warning about installing 3rd party add-ins. Click "Install"
  7. Once installed, you can find the Context menu next to the email viewing frame, click that
  8. Click "Backup365"
